That trope you used to see in late 00s/early 10s media where a character would discover the next part of the plot progression by surfing some kind of online forum or redditesque stand-in has been completely vaporised to make way for the far more lazy trope of some dumbass thumbing stupid shit into his phone via text message and having floaty blue or white or green text bubbles slapping you in the face and rudely dispelling the cinema of it all.
