7Got my son this for Christmas, was a really cool story
I love the cover illustration!
The entire book is lovely. The battle is long and the knight practically dies, but falls into some healing water (classical medieval romance knightly battle)
I'm not sure if you have read La Chanson de Roland, but I read it in my medieval literature course and loved it. It's what really sparked my interest in HEMA
I have not! does it feature warfare? I'll have to give it a read if it made you interested in HEMA ๐
I had to read some of the Chanson de Geste (song of deeds) which are stories about knights doing brave things
every great night has a steed and blade with a name ๐
And I'm sure you're familiar with Chrรฉtien de Troyes! Author of The Knight of the Cart (Lancelot) although I'm not as big of a fan of Courtly Love romances because it's so annoying. Knights simping after their Lady is a little pathetic
back in the day a romance was just great emotions, action and battles! ![]()

3I took some Roman history classes and did a senior project where is studied the Gladius and smithed a blade replica. I'll have to dig up some photos to show you. It was ugly ![]()
