Anyone who didn't see this coming needs their Tin Foil Hat privileges revoked.
If it's not open, it's not honest.
Microsoft really had no choice. They had the keys. This is different than asking them to help crack the keys or turning over their ip etc. It's really no different than subpoening emails given the nature of the thing sought and the manner in which it was stored.

@cjd @Humpleupagus @Dan_Ramos @RichardJohnson @hfaust Mostly likely a "backdoor" cipher key is added on the fly to any encrypted data.
