@cjd @caekislove It's a hard problem too, because it looks a lot like a management problem (Just make the AI guy do the thing!) but without domain expertise, it's quite challenging to scope the model to do the right thing; and synthetic domain expertise (skills, memories) is really, really hard! It's like training- super easy to brick your model with incorrect inputs, or sway the solution into something you REALLY DO NOT want.
@Hoss @phnt @cjd @KingOfWhiteAmerica @vonzeppelin Sometimes the replication machinery just doesn't work proper, either. Downs Syndrome, for example.

All of nature's filled with these weird little quirks. Some molecular cornerstone or another gets looped in, is unchanged for hundreds of millions of years, the organism above that change contorts itself to conform. RuBisCo is a really good example of this, it's a carbon-fixing protein that grabs an oxygen half of the time. Photosynthesis is absurdly effective- right up to that point.
@cjd @phnt @KingOfWhiteAmerica @vonzeppelin @Hoss I think there's even solid indications that just the "meat suit" if you want to call it that, suffers from all the same shortcomings and foibles of evolution- even before talking about the Soul!

Sunburns, for example. On Whites, it's a result of relatively thin skin and no pigmentation to absorb UV before it can cause critical DNA damage; this is detected by RNA damage, which will lead to apoptosis. You can see a clear gradient of pigmentation on the "more pigment better" spectrum, all the way down to the equator (before the age of jet travel really fucked up the distribution), which is the solution that the human strain has broadly settled on; REGARDLESS of whether or not that's the best answer! (It's not; we need a protein that can more rapidly recover photonic damage, which might end up coming from photolyases).

Evolution appears to be broadly driven by incremental selection and improvement, followed by extraordinary leaps and chasm-crosses on the whims of fate, and there's a dozen or so examples of human molecular-and-superstructures which indicate this is the case.
@sapphire @cjd @eniko @pyrate

Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
Guide reproduction wisely – improving fitness and diversity
Unite humanity with a living new language
Rule passion, faith, tradition, and all things with a tempered reason.
Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
Balance personal rights with social duties.
Prize truth, beauty and love, seeking harmony with the infinite.
Be not a cancer on this earth, leave room for nature.

The World Courts stuff can fuck off (every country belongs to America) but aside from that what was everyone's deal hating these?
