He seems convinced this will be over quick like Venezuela and Trump will cash the W before midterms. Could that happen? I doubt it, but I won't discount the possibility they could wrap this up within a month. Any longer than that and I'd say we better get comfy and enjoy the new forever war.

I think it's more likely that he's impeached and/or resigns and is jailed, than the war is over before the midterms.

China is happy to let this keep going, Russia is fucking ecstatic to see it keep going, the Iranians are happy to keep it going... It's gonna keep going...

China has an industry worth a damn and can continue to benefit economically from it after this is over, it's not like Trump or Europe's going to start building factories in the meantime.

Yea, China's happy because they knew the US was gunning for them, and now the US is stuck in quicksand. So they'll be glad to make sure the quicksand continues.

I was reading an article about what China stands to lose in this war and this stood out to me

China may use this opportunity to take Taiwan at a point when our arsenal reserves is at a low and further military engagements is even more hostile in public opinion. Trump may go absolutely ape shit and drop a tact nuke or try to bring back the draft (and fail or get impeached for it).

@DrBtc @apropos @cjd @Hoss I think Xi has it's own timeline with Taiwan, I don't think they'd be influenced by Iran or Venezuela or anything like that tbh. As far as nukes and the draft go I think Americans would actually storm the White House

Taiwan is capable of defending itself to the extent that they can make an invasion extremely painful for China, but they wouldn't be able to independently repel one if China rolls up.

Look, I just got this incredible war plan. China can do a decapitation strike and then kill some local wise men and a bunch of children (to keep the Taiwanese from suing for peace too quickly), and then if a Taiwanese general decides not to gracefully surrender after all, China can shrug and try again next year.

Xi has a long game and a short game with Taiwan and he's been tactically advancing both in order to keep his options open.
