10@Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com I used to name all my hostnames after Madoka characters indeed.
But eventually I ran out of names from that show, so I name them after vocalsynths now.
This server is simply running a really old Debian installation (over 10 years old) which was still from my Madoka era.
@Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com Like I'm serious this server I originally installed it with Debian Jessie in 2015 and I've just kept upgrading over the years.
This installation is insanely crusty. You probably need an archeologist to dig through all the unused left over crap from old packages in my /var/lib and shit.
@Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com I have slowly been working on a plan to migrate this server to a fresh Guix installation.
Once all my configs and packages are done and are confirmed to be working on my Guix VM, I will reinstall Guix on the actual hardware on this server.
But it's kind of a thing, because my entire life runs on this server. My fedi shit, my nextcloud, my irc, my files, my music, my business, my torrents, and god knows what else that I take for granted and probably forgot about.
And don't worry I have specifically already saved the name "Teto" for this server in my current vocalsynth naming scheme for this one.
@sun@shitposter.world @Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com No nonfree software and being able to write your config in an actual proper general programming language that doesn't stink.
@sun@shitposter.world @Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com Guix also works as a package manager on other distros. I use Guix as a package manager on all of my Debian computers too.
@sun@shitposter.world @Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com I'd not recommend you to use MacOS in the first place.

4@sun@shitposter.world @Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com Like you should be smart enough to know how to install GNU/Linux as your main desktop OS. I don't need to explain this.
macos is better or worse in different ways but I switched for specific functionality in an emergency and didn't switch back yet because I am now locked into their ecosystem
I can extract myself at any time with little pin
