There's actually a better explanation for this than "For The Lulz": If the AC system was at capacity, disabling some zones would allow the other zones to be kept colder than they would otherwise.

@cjd I'm sure there is some logical explanation behind it, I just found it fucking funny after the past few days of AC discussion here on the fedi, and on twitter.
I'm in the EU, and I can not for the life of me understand the resistance some people have to getting a AC unit, sure there some Net Zero laws in place in some countries, but regular folks seem to think they are saving the planet or some shit by not getting one, as if heat is a zero sum game.

I'm based in France but I was born in the US and one piece of American culture that I'm not giving up is when it's too hot outside, I want it too cold inside. I wanna need a sweater!

But AC is like it doesn't exist until the heat comes for a couple days then it goes back to not existing.
Having said that, people cns do whatever they want, Ive never needed AC and not had it.
The one time I needed it was in the south of Spain and the house had it.

@ergo @Titanbreakerkun @cjd NIGGER it is not "jUst 2 wEeKs", ok? Its at least three months where heat waves can take place (Im Belgian). Often it is too hot for at least a month. On top of that, our homes are built to fucking RETAIN the heat, so even if the heat wave is over, the heat fucking lingers inside much longer. I needed a fan for 3 months last year just to be able to fall asleep. What do you think the current state is of my home?

I have AC but I also have shutters, so today for example there's already no need for air conditioning. I think that having no external shutters or blinds is a much bigger problem than having no AC most of the time, and maybe 20% of houses in Belgium have those.

@cjd @Titanbreakerkun I got a AC in my apartment, but the typical old houses in southern Spain, usually they are designed to be rather chilly, like don’t see much old houses with air condition, but every apartment got one. I think it’s generational here in Andalucia. Every new construction got air condition installed
