@prettygood i had a nice sip of nikka from the barrel one night in sapporo…
@cell I am decidedly envious
@prettygood one snowy icy night in susukino, i stumbled upon a elegant looking sanctuary in a suspicious alley.
inside was quiet, understated, dark. the handsome dapper bartender looked at me, welcoming without expressing a smile. tired, i took a seat, and looked at the menu.
as nikka came from hokkaido, i decided to order Nikka From The Barrel.
ニッカ from the barrel お願いすます。i requested.
飲み方ですか?asked the bartender.
apprehensive but willing to try my japanese, i replied: on za ロック。
he prepared the drink, as i gazed at his dance back and forth, pulling out the spherical ice, and pouring the elixir before placing it before me.
it was wonderful. (though i want to learn how to order it neat next time)

@cell ah no shame in that, a little water brings out the flavor of good whisky, and sometimes does the same for good whiskey.
@prettygood @cell there are two kinds of whiskey: good with coca cola (no pepsi, even though I prefer pepsi without whiskey) and good with ginger ale (seagrams or canada dry but it does have to be goyslop ginger ale). I have yet to find a whiskey I prefer without one of those two flavors
@sapphire @prettygood the japanese like to drink their whisky in highball, Suntory's Toki for instance mixes well with soda, and you can order highball in plenty of places there
