What's interesting is those engines are not fundamentally *that* powerful. The supercharger they use is really old tech, way better stuff being used in street races. What makes them powerful is they run nitromethane fuel which is so violent, it kind of borders on being a high explosive.
Nobody really uses nitro for anything else though (except RC) because it's just obscenely expensive.

@cjd @LordMordred @vic Yeah, self oxidizing fuels are crazy potent stuff.
I think some high speed boat racing stuff uses nitrated fuels as well. Don't need crazy good air/fuel mixing with you have liquid ox already flowing in.

Imagine running nitrated diesel, you could put the timing so late and the fuel would be self-atomizing.
