@DC5FAN I need extra forearm strength for a Bermuda Grass infestation. Those roots go a foot deep at the center node

@DC5FAN Its grass that grows like a fern, but really close to the ground. It snakes underneath actual grass so you cant hit it with a lawnmower. Every 6 inches or so the vines drop to the ground and root again before growing out with more vines. I yanked a full run from a single plant today and it weighed over 10 pounds. The root ball at the center was enormous.

@LordOfTheKangs Wow. You know what you are doing. Pulling weeds takes skill and practice.

@DC5FAN Not even claiming im right or know what im doing, but the infestation was hit with roundup at the end of winter and brand new growth came out of all the dead areas. Everywhere I've pulled with my hands has had extremely slow regrowth. Its working so I want to be stronger and pull more of the roots out.

It's the only way to get Bermuda out. Not to mention round up is gay. Pretty satisfying getting Bermuda up but fuck is it pervasive

@SmidgePierce @DC5FAN Totally. Picking up a little node and finding out its the end of an entire vine and getting the entire thing out is like... scratching an itch on your back you cant reach.
When all those hook tips come out of the soil intact its like getting an immigrant housing complex raided by ICE.
No more herbicides are getting laid down now that im in charge of this lawn btw.

@DC5FAN @Bianca @SmidgePierce You can be non misanthropic while liking pulling weeds. Whenever a neighbor stops to say your yard looks nice take it as a compliment. Just dont expect everyone to compliment your yard all the time like those schizo boomers

i also power washed the concrete around here to brighten it "look at taht shit, looks good"

our grass looks good cuz we let hte clover just grow in it.

@madcuzbad @SmidgePierce @Bianca @LordOfTheKangs Yeah. It seems to help retain moisture. Plus you get a lot of rain in Indiana.

clover also produces nitrogen which is a primary fertilizer grass needs, it's why corn is such a nitrogen hog, cuz it's a grass.

@madcuzbad @DC5FAN @SmidgePierce @Bianca I put hay down to cover the grass seed this spring and I have to pull hay stalks out of the lawn fringe twice a week now. Those roots can be very hard to remove. Had to finish the job with needle nose pliers several times

I'm just starting to manage a lawn for the first time (moved 6 months ago) - my plan is to just keep mowing until everything that doesn't like being an inch and a half tall gives up and dies...

we do a 3 inch cut height around here
but

my grandpa liked to do 3.5 inches

that's actually kinda tall

My mower will do 4 inches max.
I'm starting there and pushing toward 2 inches - not sure where I'll end up but some of the lawns are 2 1/2 already...

i actually enjoy mowing when i can just use a rider
zero turn mowers are fun to drive, it's like driving a tank.

I'm using a robot because I'm a lazy fuck

i like vacuuming, something austically satisfying about sucking shit up with the hose.
