American moves to Germany. Has to retake the practical exam for his driver's license because beurocracy, and fails it lol. How baby easy is it over there for a years long driver to fail it here?

@danny @teto in germany you have to slow the fuck down whenever near a bus thats stopped to let people out. this includes if its in the other lane because people may attempt to cross the road at that point. so yea if you go too fast cause of a bus in the opposite lane you can get penalised. its kinda based tbh
@coolbean @teto driving in Europe / UK is fine from experience, if not better in some senses to the US, but it's the tests and systems around driving that are horrible

For one, the insurance industry in the UK is a literal monopoly. It's like something Dr Evil would come up with. You're legally required to have it despite the government offering no insurance option, and as it is near impossible to start an insurance company, it means that these huge insurance companies can charge extortionate prices for any reason they like without consequence, including high exit fees etc. They're also all roughly owned by the same companies/people, but that's a whole other rabbit hole
