@f0x How can you not love the kings of death metal, Arch Enemy. What do you not like about two guitar riffs on a loop while a woman throws up in the microphone.

@f0x theres a band called Periphery that has phenomenal instrumentals but their vocals suck so hard it ruins all the songs. Thankfully they seem to be aware of this and release two versions of every track (one without the screaming). Look up Marigold to see what i mean.

i am usually a defender of shitty lyrics because vocals are just another instrument. shitty lyrics still bother me because once y'listen y'can't unlisten. BUT. scream vocals are just the boomers "modern art". it isn't fucking listenable, nigger. someone should've slapped these kids the moment they got louder than ~80dB.

@f0x You can make harsh screaming vocals work, it isn't rocket science, but you need to contrast it with something that people think of as tame and not harsh. Otherwise it is boring and doesn't bring anything to the songs. It's just more noise.

@f0x @bajax Coincidentally a lot of bands in the symphonic metal and friends crowd figured it out years ago. Have both, a main female singer and a guy in the back that can make harsh vocals to contrast the song.
