@brianvastag @tkissing I think the best we can say is that the deaths *may* have been prevented.

There are long stretches of this rail corridor with walls and bad layouts of the streets, no good footpaths etc so lots of people just use one of the crossings and walk the tracks especially from Downtown to Midtown/Design District. I had an apartment overlooking the tracks and I'd see people doing it all the time.

@brianvastag @tkissing also even I didn't realize until recently that the rail crossing arms are designed to be knocked off so people shouldn't fear hitting them / getting stuck on the tracks. Just drive through. You'll be okay. You might only slightly hurt your vehicle's paint job.

But we don't tell people about this. So they think they're trapped or something and panic when the arms come down on their vehicle or if they're blocked in because they're stupid and stopped on the tracks when the traffic was heavy.
@Haikyoneko @brianvastag @tkissing there will be like a stop light after the tracks and a line of cars that goes WAY past the tracks

but of course everyone is impatient so they jam all the cars up, light turns red, now you have cars stopped on the tracks

watched them do it every single day.

I'd stop before the tracks like a sane person and people would be honking at me in anger

south florida people are WEIRD
