@Varpie @arstechnica I looked into switching from Plex to Jellyfin and then I saw this page about how to stream remotely and... absolutely no thanks. This is way more effort than I ever want to spend.

@brianvastag @Varpie @arstechnica that's the real problem, it's terrible for remote streaming and it is still years behind the well optimized transcoder configuration (possibly patched ffmpeg too) that Plex has

I do have a Jellyfin server running locally pointed at the same media and a tool that syncs my entire watch history over to it in case I have no choice but to migrate, but it's staying behind the BREAK GLASS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY for now.

Nearly all my personal usage is direct via Infuse on AppleTV -- no transcoding ever. But I have so many friends and family members that also use my Plex... they need the transcoding...
