A decent fractal blob algorithm (cyan, unrelated to other terrain). It's also driven by noise, so blobs in different places will look different. I plan on using it for trees and other foliage. Maybe it needs domain warping as a post-processing step, but I have a feeling that would require an algorithm to reasonably remove self intersections. Right now self-intersecting polygons are simply dropped from all of the algorithms.

A petty lord simulator like Banished, Farthest Frontier, or Manor Lords. Except hopefully better than the latter two; being better than Banished is a tall order. One can dream.
After a lot of tedious debugging of weird edge geometric edge cases, the fractal noise based hierarchical polygon generator finally works. It's slow as fuck (about 30 seconds to generate what's shown) but that can be fixed with some acceleration structures and a day or two of dev time once the final algorithm is known.
The wildcard with Iran is that they have tremendous internal problems. A fair portion of the population, and even the military, might defect to, frankly, anyone at all that invaded. Who knows though. The US would certainly mismanage it and lose control of the puppet state within a decade or two.
As for the empire, it was already shown to be a joke with Afghanistan. That doesn't mean the US can't lash out and cause serious damage, especially for small, poor, retarded countries. The real line where countries start ignoring the US's threats is when they invade a non-shithole and get actively repelled and have to quickly retreat out of the country.
I get the impression that Denmark would give Greenland to China for free before selling it to the US just out of spite at this point.
I don't think Danes are particularly fond of Russia either. China is a somewhat neutral player, if there is such a thing, within American-European politics.
China and Russia are only allies of convenience. They will go back to war with each other once there aren't bigger fish to fry.
