any ideology that seeks to totally supplant religion with its own secular cult (like juche) is straight up pure evil.

@georgia has essentially gained political power asserting its standards over russian citizens
@technolyze I'm talking about secular psuedoreligions, cults of science and personality. not here to argue about the purview of religion.
@georgia but secular psuedoreligions or 'cults of science' can have as little power or influence as religions themselves. Do you think the American Humanist Association is evil?
@technolyze if youre arguing that secular humanism is as insidious as Stalins cult of personality youre engaging in sophistry
@georgia
>I'm talking about secular psuedoreligions, cults of science and personality
it falls under this thats why i asked, its not sophistry, idk people that get all obsessed with religion and new age stuff do sometimes legitimately think stuff like that or individual atheist or secular satanism is somehow evil or offensive.

@technolyze oh we just have a misunderstanding. I'm not talking about things like satanism or secular humanism or the flying spaghetti monster. I'm talking about cults of personality and the psuedoreligions of authoritarians. I only said science because I envision there being some transhumanist antihuman atheist state cult in the future.
@georgia

odd you envision that to me, what i feel like im seeing is push towards christofascism with transhumanist technofascist slant in the US, and similar right wing christian movements in other countries pushing anti immigration based on judaic religions infighting and the same dose of technofascist surveilance.

@technolyze I dont see the development of xenophobic trump-culty protestantantism and transhumanist technofascism as being convergent, more as parallel. theyre both happening but theyre not kindred.
@georgia idk if you look at the adoption rate of of consuming llm slop and being ok with the ai surveilence practices it seems to line up with the christians in the US, there were also speakers like thiel who believe that their technofacism is the second coming of christ and any one that pushes regulation of it is the antichrist, people like JD Vance and charlie kirks were proteges of this man. I think they might be becoming disturbingly intwined.
@technolyze does theil really believe that holy shit
@georgia he does indeed, people like Greta Thunberg are the antichrist because of their environmental activism interfering with technological advancement were one of his insane examples
@technolyze that is so fucked up
@georgia ya, its rather weird, and to me people who have been his 'proteges' having a bit of political sway disturbs me. This is why i feel like technofascism and christofascism are to become fully intwined within the US, a nice planatir eye of sauron watching us all to make sure we arent radical muslims or nhilistic anti religion extremist. I suppose my fear is a tad conspiratorial, but it does have grounds.
@technolyze I just dont see how those two strands can be ideologically synthesized (unlike, say, transhumanism and atheism) but I already consider christianity and nationalism and christianity and fascism to be a contradiction so I shouldnt be too suprised
