@feld I think that it is owned by Lenovo, now. At the very least, that's the company that Google sold them to a few years back.
@feld meh.com
That's looking pretty good.
Some day, I want to dump $10k into my home server infrastructure ... and not just because it's estimated to take 22hr to copy files from the mac mini to the windows server.
I assumed that if you use MacOS's Time Machine and the backup drive runs out of space, it would just prune the backup. Apparently, it does not?
I stumbled upon a reason to post https://soundcloud.com/jose-gamez-938643886/the-system-is-down-strongbad in the work group chat.
@feld I've always opted towards views before stored procedures but I remember having to do a few things with Microsoft SQL Server that needed to be done as stored procedures and there's something to say for having some programmatic logic be there instead of inside of if your application (especially if you're using different technology stacks for different applications).

Nobody wanted to choose Dare. 😏
I have a lot of credit cards ... too many credit cards. It is part of a medium-term strategy but I am planning collapse them in, this year. One of them offers a $10 per month doordash credit on retail and I discovered that it works on sushi from Kroger. If you pair that with one of their regular "50% off $25+" deals, you can get $40 worth of mediocre sushi for $10.
It is truly mediocre sushi, but it's also only $10.
It looks like @Tusky can do quote toots, now. Yay!
In 2012, I bought the least expensive house (in a reasonable condition) that I could find in the most expensive zip code in the area. I like the neighborhood and the house is comfortable but this is my front yard. Over the years, I have thought about upgrading to something more. I have also thought about buying a condo in Mexico and spending part of the year there in hopes of eventually getting dual citizenship. After all, Mexico City is in the same time zone as Milwaukee. ...
... That would make working remotely pretty easy. With my house at the back of the lot and the neighbor's house at the front of the lot, I have started thinking about the idea of building a new house in the front yard and then having the current house declared an ADU by the city. I could build the house of my dreams in a neighbourhood that I like, rent the old house out to offset the cost, and hopefully come out the other end without too much pain. ...
I really like this breakfast
@feld @CapitalB Android QuickShare was already using WiFi Aware (the standard that I was thinking of) and the EU forced Apple to adopt it for AirDrop. Apple was apparently using "Apple Wireless Direct Link" previously. Maybe they could get Apple to adopt more standards next? 🤷♂️
They didn't reverse engineer anything. They didn't really even need to change anything.
@feld Starting with the Pixel 10, "Android Quick Share" interoperates with "iOS AirDrop" but it is because someone bullied Apple into making AirDrop conform to the standard that Quick Share already uses. Nothing like that exists with AirPlay on Android, though. If the Sonos devices don't do Chromecast, maybe try straight-up Bluetooth?
It sounds like there was another ICE shooting today but there's almost nothing known about what happened.
"The individual, who has not been identified, was shot in southern Pima County near milepost 15 of West Arivaca Road at around 7:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Santa Rita Fire District. The fire department said it transported the person in critical condition."
