Germany is so strange. when you aim for a multi-ethnic state that fights against all nationalism and bans the ideas of state=ethnos, how to form cohesion? what's the basis of your morality? no wonder people turn to ideologies that give them some kind of guidance like islam in a society devoid of all culture and standards.

@meowski i only gave islam as an example of people turning to something to give them a direction, be it islam or conservative catholicism or buddhism or... i don't think converts to islam make a substantial % of germany's muslim population.

civic nationalism:
Brings different people together, but real dissidents are enemies of the state by merely disagreeing on ideas (Liberalism is quite prescriptive on a lot of social things if you think through it)
ethnic nationalism:
May (or may not) be higher in diversity of thought, but disagreeing on skin color makes you an enemy of the state
