A pack of rolling paper 1 1/4 50 leaves is 4$ at the store, buying a box of 25 packs is 20$ online, same shit with filters, i buy them in pack of 1000 from eastern europe for 20$, costs me under 40$ for 1000 smokes when a box of prerolled papers with filter is 20 for 200

I pay about half price for higher quality cigs, handrolling rules
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate Makes sense. why do you need to wait for the isp though?

unless you get butt hurt messages to the isp.

or run them all under one.

Idk, for me, i'd probably vps the front ends across multiple services, and store the DB on owned hardware.

But thats a bigger scale than I deal with. I'd have to think about it for awhile but solvable.
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate I like hardware and infastructure. Idk im a nerd?

So lets say you have 50 legit instances (i assume like 40 of them are single user or close) so what i'd do (depending on domain rep) is use proxies for the FE basically each instance would get it's own vps (again depending on budget and usuage) I'd have the front ends live on vps's and keep a master db on owned hardware I control.

Based on my usuage I may just run the db at home with fiber and an unlimited plan, and it should be good, but that still leaves the fucking media.

So for that probably colocation for the media server.
@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate Yeah. You're telling me. I've been operating at a loss for every month but 2. But I'm doing it out of pocket still because people rely on the service. It's being run as efficient as possible with the database and storage isolated on the same hypervisor with local backups and offsite. But with the lack of people now it costs me about double what I charge for it every month. so I have to get this moved when I can. again, I'm waiting

@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @BillingtonYVR @koropokkur @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate Maybe you can explain to other people who whine about poast why we do what we do. Mind you, I could tell you to kill yourself if you were trans and the owner of our ISP wouldn't give single fuck since we are more or less deplatformable now. We adhere to our rules, the ISP knows our rules. They know we act within minutes but no less than an hour on any report. They know we have automated moderation for a lot of shit that to date has a 0 fault rate I would like to add.

I spoke at length in 2021 but I will tell you the same thing I said in the past: there are three boogeymen of the "free and open internet" that is 1. dox as definited as information somebody has not posted themselves online, we limit this to the space we occupy -- if you post your dox outside of poast it's off limits unless you post it here. 2. verifiable or credible threats -- if you post a threat on here especially with motive or a plan it will be reported to authorities. 3 - illegal content such as revenge porn, csam, etc
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @BillingtonYVR @koropokkur @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate i don't think there will ever be money to be made here.

My painting business did 20-30k/month at a 60% margin.

When that was happening i randomly bought 6k in hardwarde and wrote it off as a business expense because i also hosting my companies website so it worked.

The point is not to make money from this. The point is to make money and bury this in line items. as tax write offs.

If i can create a business again that does 300-500k per year (I have in the past and I'm more than happy to show you the irs docs proving it) then it becomes a legitimate tax write off.

My point being - you will never make money "hosting" but you can make money providing a service for soemthing else and wrap this into it.

Then the faggot jobless trannies will have a much harder time piercing the corporate veil.

idk man i don't want to be a dick but i currently operate an s-corp and like it is possible...i've done it before i just need to not go bankrupt from being a retard lol
@graf @BillingtonYVR @Folklore @ForbiddenDreamer @Frank @adequate @fknretardlol @koropokkur @spacemanspiff @vitalis Tell you what mr graf. I have a software right now im about 80% done writing it. the logic is solid. The software is optimized to collect payments . I think it could optimize and probably increase poast donations. It's a formated in a way that corporations use collections to collect money. If you would like, I will give it to you for free to collect more donations from users. Think of it like a "sales bot". Its only goal is to get more money. If you would like I'll give it to you for free as a trial.

If it works, maybe you give me a positive review so I can get some more commercial customer interested.
@Tony @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @BillingtonYVR @koropokkur @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate how in the FUCK are you going to collect money from people who literally cant afford it? The people on poast who donate some of them cant even afford what they agree to and month after month it gets declined. Its bothersome that there are people who use poast who dont donate but I'm not going to force somebody to do it man so the people who can already have it integrated into the platform and they get badges and stuff for it. why the fuck would I pay you a fee to get nothing in return? are you going to go out on daytona beach and tell people to sign up to poast? no? so why are you entitlted to something I already get
@graf @Folklore @Frank @fknretardlol @vitalis @BillingtonYVR @koropokkur @spacemanspiff @ForbiddenDreamer @adequate so couple of points. In this instance, no i would never force anyone to pay ever.

Simple we would create a pipeline that encourages paying. And if you can't, no shame. But if you can, you should do whats right, and donate.

We simply have a platform which encourages donations.

Thats it. If you can pay $1 do it. If you can pay $100 do it. but eitherway you are valued.

If you'd like to be a "major" contributor and give $200 for a special badge, do it.

It is about optimizing cashflow. Not your feelings or theirs. Nothing changes but we optimize for maximum cash flow.
