US politics, insanity escalates

So, The Guardian reports ICE has detained a British tourist, an elderly lady that went to US as vacation, had a proper visa and all.
You still want to go to United States of (mental) Asylum?

@ZySoua they did in fact NOT have a proper visa and all, bill had done some weird, really questionable work permit visas n stuff.

also why the fuck (and how the fuck) did they both get the wrong visas (neither even needed to get a visa, rather do the ESTA), i know reading is hard for elderly but damn they shouldve been atleast slightly smarter about it

that part and the clickbait title is fake news

now on the other hand for the truth in the article: the fact that ICE isnt even doing the arresting OR detaining, rather the fact that it's different privatesector hired companies (subcontractors lmfao) doing it, with a "per person detained payment system", is a very shocking revelation to me, somehow i have not put those facts together before

so far every single article ive seen about this has been bullshit, which is annoying, because there certainly are real situations of this happening, but i have yet to see on that has crossed the media barrier that hasnt been total bullshit. i cant remember them by facts occured anymore, but i checked every single news article before going to the USA about tourism problems. from the media articles of britain, norway, germany, i think some other germany-adjacent countries too. They all were the same : "Dont go to usa, they hate you for being an outsider!" and every time its the same combination of dumb shit: they broke some laws / actually worked for money in the country on a tourist visa and admitted to it during an interview (generally border control has released transcripts of private interviews in moments where the deported tourist has been accused of working on a tourist visa, and its just been stuff like "Did you work here for money?" "yes"; "Did you work here for non-monetary compensation" "yes"; "did you work here for charity" "yes" "- was the charity work for a registered charity" "no it was my sister's friends farm" "would you find it probable they let you stay on the farm for free if you didnt work" "no, probably not"

my favourites are the "i did this before and i didnt get arrested!" articles, and its like, travelling without a visa or any registration what so ever and stuff like that.

same goes for that british backpackers woman Rebecca Burke (referenced in the article as a sweet innocent who did nothing wrong, but actually did alotta wrong) who used those "get accomodation for local work" services (THAT ADVERTISE CONSTANTLY THAT "BTW, IF YOU DO THIS, IT MIGHT BE ILLEGAL WITHOUT A WORK VISA IN MOST COUNTRIES"), who did exactly that with a tourist visa, got told at the canadian border "um, wheres ur work visa. what do you mean no work visa, no entry", and then was a retard and went to the US border guard where she admitted to working in the USA without a work visa (3 layers of retardedness, first just getting the wrong visas, then admitting to the bad things, and then learning this is the wrong thing to admit, and admitting it AGAIN to the other border police)

its terrible that ICE is overreaching (with subcontractors!) and shits shit yes, but this terribly misleading and lying clickbait, it should not be used for spreading awareness like this. the terror is bad and real, and things like this serve to severely discredit accounts of the real terror.
