I have an XMPP bot that sits in a room in which everyone else has OMEMO enabled. And even though the bot itself never sends encrypted messages, I had to log in as bot myself and assign it OMEMO keys simply because otherwise Conversations wasn't allowing to send encrypted messages to a room, where one of the participants doesn't have any keys at all

@m0xEE @meso @mischievoustomato Daniel Gultsch is the average LLM hating Anubis bootlicker. I also find the "hire me to develop features for you" section on its website distasteful considering how bare bones and outdated Conversations is. Once you know who develops Conversations, everything makes sense.
