@georgia even when I find the language of this writing very scholar, I like the part that talks about yoga. I just wish it would explain how they get to these conclusions and I'd change some parts. Removing the desire for enjoyment should be wider in my opinion, it should be the desire for any outcome and the desire for anything in between. Even the desire for illumination, freedom or whatever, the desire for showing knowledge, as much as people would mock of it, even the desire of being without desire. But why? My own view of this is that we try to operate closer to the form God operates. This for me means two main qualities, integration and lack of distortions. I think, but I'm very ignorant of Hinduism, this is what they mean with gunas. But I agree with the text, distortions are part of existence and we can't just simply remove them. This is when integration comes to play, we start slowly removing the false identification and just flow in the constant transformations, I agree the ego is removed through actions and that action equals knowledge. I think in search of integration they created useful methods like asanas, Pranayama and forms of meditation. So I honestly prefer to do than to talk about these things, because words are highly delusional.
@georgia yes I read it some years ago but I don't remember much of it tbh, maybe good time for read again. For me it's related to remove the desire of whatever outcome and therefore the elimination of ego itself. I'd need to explain more of my thoughts for this to make sense I guess, but it's a beautiful moment where it happens , something like the unadulterated present.
