i should really take a hunting class. i just learned in my state that it's illegal to use any artificial light to observe or harass wildlife past 11pm, even if it's on your own property

so like literally shining a flashlight at some noise after 11pm in the woods is illegal because they were trying to deal with night hunting which is like so much less of a safety problem now with nods imo

but like if i'm camping then it's technically illegal to shine my flashlight in the woods after 11pm if there happens to be an animal doing something, like perhaps making noise??????????

just because someone could end up shooting a gun?
what????

@w0rm@dsmc.space there's so little states that i feel like i can live in and i think it's fantastic and then this shit shows up. i mean like i appreciate that i could 3d print glock lowers technically even if they'd be annoying to have to dispose of or whatever but like, does that really matter if its technically illegal to shine a flashlight past 11pm outside if I hear a noise in the dark? where the fuck am i supposed to live
@w0rm@dsmc.space yeah i mean i guess this isn't really anything compared to the mag bans and stuff, i'm just so tired of having to aware of every single law passed for every single edge case ever to avoid having to get dragged in the court for idk, shining flashlights at things at night because i live my life a certain way where i basically have a gun on me at all times. it really does feel like modern life is really just meant for you to spend all your money consuming funko pops and staying inside your apartment sometimes
@theorytoe@ak.kyaruc.moe yeah for my lifestyle all i have to be aware about are any of the following:

- city gun ordinances
- county gun ordinances
- state red flag laws
- state laws regarding 3d printers that may be used to print guns even if i have no intention of printing a shitty plastic lower just because i own a 3d printer
- state gun storage + transportation laws
- state magazine bans
- state ammunition storage/possession laws
- state body armor laws
- state self defense laws
- state hunting laws that may apply while conceal carrying or carrying a flashlight apparently even if i'm not even attempting to hunt yet
- state vehicle regulations
- state suppressor laws
- state motorcycle/helmet laws
- general federal gun and suppressor laws (NFA)
- ITAR laws since i own a tube that is subject to ITAR

these are all the things that i have to be aware of and i haven't even begun to talk about everyone's favorite topic, healthcare

like sure there are great reasons for all of these and they are all enforced very unevenly but when it's technically illegal to shine a flashlight on your own property past 11pm something has gone horribly wrong with modern society
