one of my friends is saying even if Trump "wins" with the Iran strikes, it's going to accelerate China's taking of Taiwan to his administration, which he won't win, and will be a devastating loss politically.

@sun it should accelerate host countries in China's periphery reevaluating how much protection a US base amounts to vs. how much of a target it paints in war.
@sun I think your friend is wrong. China has been getting most of it's oil from Venezuala and Iran. If that supply is inturrupted, it is more likely to delay any movement toward Taiwan.
And China plays the long game, they will wait for a president that they perceive as weak.
