It was bad after lincoln, then got successively worse after, minimally, Wilson, FDR, the Kennedy Assasination, and Watergate.

primaries are an audition for the people who get to select who runs. If you control who the choices are, you control the outcome. Even if the actual votes aren't rigged, the system is, so voting is intrinsically not fair or representative.
