The most boomer idea has came upon my head. I will hook 1kw of solar to my rv through this bitch. Then put 3kw more in the back yard. Have an electrician run cables to safely connect the rv to the breaker panel, and also to the ones in the yard. When I go camping disconnect the 3kw and let it lay fallow, then reconnect when home.

Im going to do that, but the controller/inverter is going to be in the rv. So 28-40 days a year it will not be on site.
The point is to not waste the money I spent on solar equipment for only 30 days of camping.
@Dudebro I'm a bit skeptical that one big inverter inside the RV is going to be a better for you than having it on your property and hooking the RV panels to a smaller one (with a battery!) when you're going camping.
I want a 4,000 watt inverter anyway and my other options cost more than this along with being piecemeal. I also do have batteries.

@Dudebro oh okay, I assumed you didn't. If you already have batteries then obviously buying a smaller inverter with an integrated one, in addition to another inverter, isn't gonna be worth it. It just stood out to me because that inverter obviously doesn't have any. I guess you want to wire them to this inverter? Are you going to haul all your batteries with you when you go camping then?
Probably since im running the ac during my excursions and let the generator rest. Thats why I wanted the 4kw inverter.

The ac is 1600-1800w so the peak is going to be pretty high worst case scenario. I like to oversize stuff and maybe someday we will have more people camping and drawing more power. It was 90 when I went last and fuck being outdoors so we hooked up the steam deck to a tv along with the kids switches.

Yeah its a smaller rv, it just was built in the early 90s. Im starting out with a 100ah 48 volt and adding on as needed, or running the generator to top it off. Its mainly I dont want to use 3/4 of a tank of gas in a week and then be almost stranded.
@Dudebro Pretty sweet setup. What kind of panels are you gonna use for that 1 kW on the RV itself?
Im still thinking. I think just 4x250s, I'm going to look into mounting options since I just got into this last week.
@Dudebro fwiw rigid ones are going to have way higher power density to my knowledge but yea you really want to mount them correctly and that's going to be a little easier with flexibles or smaller ones

I thought of that, but I have an awning and where its parked at my house its between the house and the neighbors with no room. I will just have to do a lot of research tbh.
This is a next march/april issue
