Anyways the roads in my area are completely frozen with a thick layer of ice and not driveable.
And like true Dutch people they are now ice skating on them instead.

@SuperDicq As if there wasn't a solution to this problem for a long time, the humble road salt.
@phnt@fluffytail.org They are obviously trying that but that just doesn't work in this scenario. Salt only works with snow, not with ice.
@SuperDicq It works for ice, but you have to be preventative with it, not reactive. If you salt roads before an ice rain, it will help. If you salt the roads after, you are screwed.
It's the classic case of being unprepared for winter, the usual in europe it seems.

Rain that turns into ice is actually a lot more crippling than a large amount of snowfall.
