Also Discord always knows your IP because that's how to connect to it?
@SuperDicq @Jes teamspeak can expose your ip to other clients in a couple different ways if not properly configured, this is probably what they are thinking of. fear of this tracks back to before windows computers had integrated firewall. in the 1990s I worked for a government infrastructure program and every pc with internet was a windows box with a publicly routable ip and no firewall at all.

It's either boomers who lacked a firewall in the 1990s or its zoomers who watched too many NordVPN ads from Minecraft Youtubers with lies in them who believe this stuff.
