just found out about this anime, ergo proxy, from a random youtube soundtrack recommendation.
i see people strongly recommending the dub over the sub. anyone wanna chime in?

@beardalaxy They are trying to lean into philosophy pretty hard. Watched it subbed and saw their twist coming from a mile away. Very clearly laid out.

@WandererUber yeah i'm seeing people say that it was easier to parse when it was dubbed because the philosophy is quite dense. apparently it's one of the better dubs and makes it seem more serious.
i'm definitely a subs over dubs guy the vast majority of the time but this struck me as something that might actually work better as a dub as long as it is well done. was just wondering if it WASN'T well done lol. i'm not too worried about not understanding anything if it isn't read aloud to me in english lol.
@beardalaxy in my experience subs have always given me a better picture of what they were trying to say. Even if they're not totally accurate, you can notice that because you hear the original Japanese and know a few phrases.
I don't know what those people are on about parsing of the sub. At some point I started watching at higher speed because I got bored lol

1@WandererUber the problem with a lot of subs too is that they are just dubtitles these days, so you get mistranslation anyway and you may as well go with whatever sounds better if you don't actually understand the japanese. sometimes it's a little distracting now that i have been learning japanese and the subtitles clearly don't line up lmao.
i feel like i wouldn't have much issue with it reading it, especially because i've watched a lot of other cyberpunk stuff and it seems along those lines. i'm mainly interested in it because i'm kind of a slut for the genre xD
