@WandererUber Are you gonna continue/repeat the experiment to substantiate more evidence, or would you prefer not to?

@Jens_Rasmussen I might place a specimen outside the fridge for tomorrow to see if the taste rebounds and if there is some inherent hysteresis
I would have to acquire a new batch of apples for further experimentation but my stocks have not run dry so this is a ways away

@WandererUber How many apples are you buying that spoilage becomes a relevant concern? I buy bags of apples at Costco and have never had an issue with them spoiling just sitting on the counter until the bag is consumed.

@UpADamnMountain Not that many but I only eat one a day. Maybe I could keep them in the open too. Maybe I'll have to to prevent them tasting bad
