@eris I could, because I've dealt with intrusive thoughts and if the worst ones I've had shoved their way out my mouth every single time no matter how ego dystonic they may be and no matter how hard I try to suppress them I think I would suck off a shotgun; thus I can very easily empathize with this hypothetical "tranny faggot!" shouting coprolaliac and know not to take it purrsonally

@patchuun @eris i think it's the way that people got forced into that situation to "start a conversation" and ultimately promote a movie that makes it messed up. being put in a room with cameras and told that you might hear things that you will find distressing, especially given the history associated with the word and how they handled the apology after it happened, is just not okay and i think that's mostly on the organizers, hosts and the BBC.
@fisk @patchuun I can admit that perhaps my own understanding of tourettes got set back by this situation, but I still think people are overwhelmingly quick to dismiss the harm done to black people. Especially some of the ones in this thread who love saying the N word on fedi and think that's okay to do.
It can surely be both problems that need to be addressed right? Understanding of tourettes and impact of racism
