@georgia probably like modern windows, as soon as they do an update it undoes everything

@izzy thats not remotely silly I wouldnt have bought a macbook in a million years if asahi linux didnt exist and if I werent planning on dual booting

@sun yeah I was thinking that too, if an update effects my linux partition then I'm putting linux on the whole disk

@georgia linux being a pain in the ass on there is why I haven't seriously considered one

I have some weird linux RISC apple machines and I would not want that for a daily driver

@georgia I'm not exactly telling you what to do but you'll save time if you learn from my experience, and after 2-6 years giving up and just adapting to their ecosystem and you'll be happier even if you have to make big compromises. ultimately I switched from linux because the god damn monitor support fucking worked right

@sun you underestimate how much I prefer control and privacy over time efficiency.

@izzy ive heard from multiple people that asahi works pretty well now. the hardware support is almost complete.

@georgia I was under the impression that there are some caveats that are pretty fundamental to the platform but I haven't seriously looked into it since around the M2 era

@izzy they recently fixed the big caveat which is second monitor support. m2s are the best supported so theyre a few years behind.

@georgia its just the wrong platform for what you want to do

@sun yeah but I think I'll manage. it just sucks how integrated the spyware is today. like I said, I hacked my shit to pieces when I was fifteen and nothing important broke.
