There are fewer murders in the end than in the early 2000s before cartel wars may have started. (guessing) So incarceration may have removed the remaining criminals after the wars settled. Which would support Bukele's claim although not to the extent implied at first glance.

@BroDrillard @nayibbukele @nugger I think Bukele's claim in general ("being tough on crime works") is reasonably well supported anyways. But his specific claim, made as a quote post in response ("arrest rate directly corresponds to reduced murder rate") isn't born out from the data he presents here. the opposite in fact is.

Same thing. In absence of other data, it actually DISPROVES the claim.
