11arch is simple as fuck because there are 50 different ways to automate setup to get a working desktop experience (spinoff distros like cachy or endeavor, complex dotfiles like omarchy or hyde, etc)
this is why there is currently a lot of weird panic about AUR - lots of people that shouldn't be using DIY distros apparently have been, and they don't know what to do when something goes sideways
this is also very apparent in void linux's subreddit, btw, lmao. the aur thing and the systemd thing has pushed a lot of fucking retards in void's direction and its very obvious that there is now a large (or loud, if not large) subset of linux user that thinks he knows how things work because he's been able to get other people to do the setup for him, and is completely lost when he has to do anything himself.
anyway rolling release isn't bad for a desktop experience, teto, you're just gay
@phnt @teto @npc @saatja @mirq you gotta buy a time machine to get to the point when Void was the distro shilled on /tech/ over at 8chan. Before the latest drug epidemic, it was seen as a cool distro.
Then the leader went crazy and burnt bridges after adopting they/them pronouns, then the Distro said BLM on Twitter, and then it was never the same.
It's just another distro with Jerry Springer Show antics, or in other words the Firefox of operating systems.
@phnt @teto @npc @saatja @mirq Yeah, he adopted they/them pronouns over "muh wife left me".
Here's another gem, did you know that all these developers are in the same clique? Here's Q66, the ex Void PPC developer, interacting with another infamous figure on fedi.
The only problem I've had with macOS is the issue where developers act as if the only *nix in the world is Linux and shit has some weird issue that refuses to build, which is also an issue on illumos, BSD, and whatever weird OS you found last week. The difference is, there's an incentive to fix it.
