PERSONAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Show
This not a plea for money, donations, etc. This is not a joke or a shitpost.

A few months ago we found out my newlywed wife has a serious cancer diagnosis.

She is going into surgery tomorrow.

There is no expectation that this surgery will be life-threatening, but you never know what will happen, and it is already life-and-body-changing. And, we will not know if we will find more cancer when they get in there, that is a concern. Even after the surgery is done, we will be going through a long period of chemotherapy. This isn't the beginning of the end, it's just the beginning of a long period of treatment.

Whatever happens, we are putting it into the hands of the Father. But I am asking for your prayer for her.

I don't know what else to say about it but it was time to ask.

@sun best of luck to you and your wife. I have some personal experience on the matter, if it's anything alike you can expect the treatment period to be an utterly terrible time.

also on the anxiety about surgery, in decent countries it's exceedingly rare for anything to go badly wrong.

some silver linings are that she has you to support her, and treatment results keep improving with every passing year.

It's not fair, and I want you to know that upset right there with you. I second what eal said about a silver lining. She is in good care, and has you among others to support her. I truly wish for her health to improve.

Someone at work once told me that "those who are weak are strong in God", quoting the Bible. I am not well versed in matters of faith or how that phrase would translate but there is definitely power in holding fast in the face of uncertainty.

Remember to take care of yourself as well. It's easy to lose yourself in the role of caretaker. You are not alone in this, and you have friends willing to stand by you.

Praying for you both, when you have time I'm sure we'd appreciate an update if you feel comfortable sharing. I'm sure this is traumatic and nerve wracking. I hope she hasn't been too unwell 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Definitely. I know Fedi can be a fun place to.. shitpost. But I know we have a lot of believers here that love our brothers and sisters and sincerely care for one another.

I hope you can find strength in the Lord and I'll be praying for the surgeons hands to be guided during the operation.
