@sun @whirly yeah I figured out in high school that the amount of new material introduced each year is extremely minimal and that you were essentially wasting time for the rest of it.
I don't know if there's really a point to noticing it because without the wholesale destruction of public education, nothing will change.
I am an advocate for the wholesale destruction of public education fwiw.

@pwm @whirly @sun I remember saying in high school that I was sick of learning about native americans every single year and someone with native ancestry got mad at me for it.

College, except for a few stem fields, is four years of demonstrating you are able sit still, and of meeting people who will become colleagues in your future profession.

Hell, I did four years of undergrad and then two of grad school and they taught me absolutely nothing I did not already know.

@s2208 @pwm @whirly @sun i reread john carter's "the class of 2026" and "academia is women's work" essays recently. they seem to have held up pretty well
