2@lain It is good! Because it might lead to people choosing self-hosted open source alernatives instead of centralized corporate solutions with built in surveillance.

@phnt @p @lain This is not so interesting. I am not a fan of the matrix project. If I needed a chat, I'd go with irc which you can run on a raspberry pi at home.
If you need to cater to young people, maybe mattermost might give them that sweet web 3.0 feeling?
Generally though, anything that primarily relies on a web interface is not so good.
> You are comitting hte fallacy of reasoning in absolute. I did not say "all, now and will".
You want to discuss logical fallacies. You've confused "¬∀(x)P(x)" with "∀(x)¬P(x)". In reality, the negation of the universal is equivalent to "∃(x)¬P(x)". Don't quote logical fallacies at me until you understand logic.
The remark was sarcastic and the implication was that the only people that left Youtube were the people that were banned from Youtube, that is, almost *nobody* actually left Youtube. There has not been some sort of gradual exodus.
> Odyssey has grown enormously.
Please clearly define "growth".
> Young no longer have facebook accounts.
They didn't leave Facebook for fedi. They left Facebook for Tiktok. Find me a child that has an internet connection but doesn't use Youtube.
> I think it is not controversial to think that people will leave discord as well.
They're not going to IRC or even Matrix if they do. But so far, they're not leaving Discord.
Look around here. I still get complaints from people that FSE redirects Discordbot to an image of severed pig heads (long story) and I tell them "Just don't use Discord" and then they tell me their friends are on Discord. People that are on *fedi* haven't all left Discord. A lot of projects no longer have mailing lists: you're supposed to join their Discord "server". That is, people that develop GPL'd software haven't left Discord, and that's a niche that is about as predisposed towards open solutions as you can get.
Shockingly, there have been a good hundred-odd people showing up in matrix-hq over the last couple of days and asking about custom emoji, in the breaths between shitting it up with shitting on discord.
