Yeah, we will just drop this very popular package in a month, because we are autistic about dropping Qt5 and are removing packages using it.

50Linux desktop is truly dead when there aren't any sane distros left for anyone outside basic web browser/libreoffice users. There simply is not any sane distro that doesn't break things at random or doesn't do weird rugpulls.
@technolyze The Qt5 autism is a problem throughout Gentoo. The guy that made that change isn't even one of the package maintainers. It's some random that packages elogind and that's basically it.
@HatkeshiatorTND @Suiseiseki Correct, that's why I'm never using more of that slop than absolutely necessary. The perfect Linux system is one without GNU.
@HatkeshiatorTND @Suiseiseki Couldn't care less about the license. I have sources, I will do whatever I want with them and that's all I care about.
@mia I'm slowly getting mentally prepared to eventually jumpship away from Linux completely. The kernel isn't bad, but userspace is starting to become a serious dumpster fire with no signs of stopping.
I can easily see myself on FreeBSD or something 5 years from now.
@mia Meanwhile, distros are just seemingly self-destructing themselves.
Whats the difference? do you not believe in a one drop rule?
Its nice your getting more moderate ![]()
@hunter0one CRUX can't be bothered to properly package their system compiler, so no.
@HatkeshiatorTND @Suiseiseki Again, I can't care less about your GeePeeL autism.
I find the gnu/mit debate completely absurd, I just publish all code without a drop of legalese and wouldnt listen if I wanted to mix two libs with different licences I just would, whatever. I dont have a horse in the race, I just like the vitalism of anger and open extremism.
@sendpaws @Suiseiseki Do you have the cc, c89 and c98 wrappers? My guess is not, because building those is disabled by default on CRUX. Lack of these wrappers breaks certain build systems and is a POSIX requirement (for cc).
@sendpaws @HatkeshiatorTND @Suiseiseki
They use newer GCC
They still use GeePeeLv2 GCC for the system. There is a build.sh option to build everything with LLVM though.
@Suiseiseki @HatkeshiatorTND @sendpaws You don't know what self hosting compiler means.
@Suiseiseki @HatkeshiatorTND @menherahair @sendpaws You only need a compiler from 20 years ago. Amazing win.
